The Kennels

Bersheda kennels is sited on two acres of land, where there are kennelling for 150 dogs. The Facilities include 28 paddocks comprising of twenty medium & eight large. There is a drag hare for exercising the dogs on the main Gallop which is 300 meters long with a slight uphill incline. There is a treatment room with portomag boxes for magnetic field therapy + laser & fototec + pen for detecting & treating injuries / trapped nerves etc. Plus motorised dog walker for those bad weather days when outside walks are not an option. We now have a new phys-assist machine for treating the dogs that get any injury while racing, and the physio visits the kennels when ever necessary, dogs are also sent to George Drake for any treatment required. All dogs are fed with plenty of red meat (not knacker) cooked mincemeat and eggs with high protien biscuit.

We are situated on the main A127 road eastbound going towards Southend and within 15mins drive from the main schooling track at Ockendon and the same time away from the greyhound vets which is now Alphavet as  John O'Connor has now taken retirment. Most owners visit their dogs on a Sunday morning between 10am and 2pm,  and enjoy the long country walks to be had behind the kennels down past the fishermen and lake and open fields plus of course the treat for the day a look at some bunnies, then comes the treat from the owners to the dogs, (chicken Etc.) they always know when its Sunday and look forward to it, why not own a dog come and enjoy the walks and make new friends in the process, hope to see you soon.

THE POOL

We now have the use of the exercise pool to keep the dogs in tiptop condition, you can see from the first picture the lifting hoist used to gently lower & lift the dogs in & out of the pool this causes less stress to the dogs & staff, the pool can be used all year round to raise the stamina and fitness of all the dogs whether injured or not as no pressure is put on any limbs as you can see from picture 2 they are supported at all times. The dogs really enjoy their time in the pool and get fit as a result of it.
